Polaroid Scan technique with 667 film negative inversion.

Edit: Alot of people seem to not understand this image, and wonder why I have it as my featured deviation. The process of Polaroid scanning is a fairly difficult thing to do. In theory, the process is like WWI-WWII era surveilance photography where the shutter on the camera is a slit instead of a convex lens. The film is rolled across the slit to expose it as the plane flys over the landscape, adjusting the speed of the folm rollers to match the speed of the plane. You end up with a photographic map of the earth.

This is essentially what I do with the Polaroid scanning technique, except I make the model spin in a chair to (in theory) get a full 360 degree shot of his/her head..

Here are a few more of the 40 360 shots that were taken during this session. [link]

Experimental techniques can produce some of the most confusing yet interesting images. Syd Inverted by *kivienkathairon was made using a 360 degree Polaroid scan, which is described by the artist with the image's description. The suggester said, "I love that photo it looks like a battle between good and evil," showing that there is more to this image than its experimental merits. Between its grainy distortion and its unique impact, no one would be able to convince me that this artist in general, and this image, are not deserving of a feature on the DD page. Fantastic! The negative inversion combined with the scan seems to give the feel of a timewarp or something. The negative inversion give the work a feeling of depth that the positive does not have. The positive almost looks sterile compared to this image. Great!
:iconkivienkathairon:
Yea, it doesnt seem worth it to scan the prints anymore. I should do all of my B&W submissions from negative inversions. Nah, that would get old real quick.

Okay, idiots, thanks to the legions of morons who decide that this box of text can be used as a judgement of character, I will cease to have any kind of quality or thoughtful signature. Thanks a whole lot.
:iconkivienkathairon:
I think that inverting the negative gives it more texture than just the positive dont you?
